Networking Trail
It was a
trail which
reminds us of the Buddha's Teachings and the power of Dhamma friends as
we stroll the much heard about Henderson Wave and Alexandra Arch.
These two bridges are part of the Southern Ridges that spans 9km
from Mount Faber to Kent Ridge Park. The weather was so
unpredictable for the
past few days that it makes one wonder if it would rain on this
day
when we have the networking trail? ah-ha... in the morning, the
sky
looked sunny and it was the type of weather that we wished for!!
By
about 3pm, we were reminded of the Buddha's Teachings of "Impermanence". The
dark clouds started drifting nearer to the temple and Bukit Merah
area whilst we gathered in the Dhamma Hall. And just as we were
about to
set off, the sky started to drizzle!!! Should we carry on with
the walk??? The decision was an unanimously one 'We should go
ahead'!! We were wishing in our hearts that the rain would stop
by
the time we reached the starting point. Alas, we didn't have
our wish granted.
It
was still raining when we reached but luckily some of us had umbrellas
with us. Despite the rain, the participants remained undaunted
and carried on with the walk. Everyone took care of each other during the journey and
shared the available umbreallas, with some sacrificing themselves
without using the umbrellas. It heartening to observe that the rain did not dampened our spirits though physically a number of us were drenched. There were no signs of complaints or any signs of
unhappiness. As we were near the ending point, the
rain eventually stopped. What we saw was the bright and
cloudy sky. This trail seems to remind us about the ups and downs in
our lives. In our lives, we may meet with many obstacles. Luckily
we have Dhamma brothers and sisters who walk this journey together and
support each other along the way. If everyone were to perserver and
encourage each other, we would realise that any unpleasant encounters
are just passing moments like the dark clouds. And with the passing of
the dark clouds, we would see the bright sky and rays of hope for
everyone. Let us all continue to encourage and support each other in
our daily lives and leave many happy moments along the WAY!
