Community Service - Ration distribution to needy elderly

It all started as a Vesak Community Project in 2007.  Strategically located in an old estate where there are many elderly, it was apt that the Wat Ananda Temple do something for the less fortunate in the community particularly on such an auspicious occasion (Vesak Day).  Observing that most of the elderly residing in the 1- or 2-room flats are either homebound or bedridden, the youth from Wat Ananda decided to deliver milk feed, diapers and rations to the homes of these elderly, most of whom are not able to step out of their homes easily.  We also hope to bring some joy to the elderly during our visits.

With the support from members and devotees, this project managed to carry on for another year.  Despite the increase in the number of families that we have to help, we also have more volunteers coming forward to join us in this meaningful project.  We look forward to more volunteers joining us for this project.  We are thankful to the Hua Mei clinics for giving us this opportunity to serve the community.  Let's deliver all the WAY to the elderly bringing along loving-kindness (metta), compassion (karuna) and generosity (dana).
